GBL GOT BEER LICENSE

Version 2, 16 November 2009

Copyright © 2009

Everyone is permitted to attend and distribute copies of this invitation,
but changing it is not allowed.

Preamble

The Got Beer License is a free, until-there-is-none-left beer license for attendees of SC09. The licenses for most parties and other practical social events are designed to take away your freedom to free beer. By contrast, the Got Beer License is intended to guarantee your freedom to have a good time without the need to buy beer.

The GBL was initially conceived in 1999 at the first Beowulf Bash. The authors decided that they wanted to enjoy themselves in a relaxed atmosphere where many of the HPC pioneers could get together without the need to buy beer. The freedom to buy beer was then transferred to the sponsors. In recent years the BeoBash has combined with the LECCIBG project to form a united common license.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Source Of Party

The following vendors have decided to support the GBL:

In particular, one of our sponsors has donated six kegs of Accelerator Beer to help ensure your freedom to drink beer is preserved.

2. Basic Permissions

You are permitted to attend and enjoy the following:

9:00pm Party starts with the Hoodoo Man himself, Walt Ligon entertains us with his free as in he is not getting paid music. (Yes that Walt Ligon of PVFS and LECCIBG fame).

10:00pm The party sponsors will exercise their freedom as in speech

10:15pm Headliner musician Norman Sylvester, “The Original Northwest Boogie Cat,” will entertain us with more free music as we continue the "free for all"

2:00am You are free to leave if you are still standing.

3. Additional Terms and Conditions

There will be free beer and wine (as long as it lasts) and a "pay as in cash" bar for the other stuff you might enjoy. There will be "free as in lunch" snacks available as well.

4. Your Rights

You understand that this is a party for the HPC community attending SC09. Not withstanding, but probably sitting, will be members of the HPC community who may engage in free conversation, which by no means constitutes a legal agreement unless you want to write some stuff on a napkin and sign it.
