Last year we swarmed aboard a boat in New Orleans and actually caused it to lean* a bit. We survived the heavy rain and all those that were washed out into the river were found within a week. For the first time we had a Beowulf bus assist us in moving many of the over 750 people who attended last years party.
How can we top last year's event? Simple, just sink to a new low and go straight to the bottom. This year we are heading to the Seattle Aquarium for some time down under! This unusually upscale Beowulf event follows the proud tradition of convincing our beloved sponsors to dole out their hard-earned money so that we can have yet another classic event for the entire HPC community.
The Seattle Aquarium is an ideal location to talk with the Beowulf community. As in past years, many of the pioneers attend to say hello and meet old friends. Besides, if you don't want to talk about exascale, cloud, big data, compilers, or bytes and bits, you can always go drink beer with the sea creatures (they don't talk as much and are good listeners). And don't forget to visit the Cephalopods! The usual festive food and drink will be provided by the generous sponsors.
*For the 1% from the yacht club, we mean "listing" or "sinking."

(so it all kind of works out). - Cephalopods have bilateral body symmetry, a prominent head, and a set of arms or tentacles (muscular hydrostats) modified from the primitive molluscan foot, which reminds us of some HPC users.

- Despite our best efforts, Snooki and The Situation will not be able to attend. We do, however, have someone who went to college with someone who knows someone who was seen in the background eating pizza in a recent Real Housewives of New Jersey. Close enough.
- No fishing poles or swimming allowed.
- We decided to use the phrase "Cephalopod Festival" this year because it sounds sophisticated.
- This invitation is one of the few things you will encounter this week that is NOT ready for the cloud.
